What We Teach

We teach traditional Shotokan Karate for  Children over aged 10, and adults. Beginners, experienced students and returning students are all welcome. Teaching is supportive, clear and structured. You will be shown and helped every step of the way.

 

For experienced students we also teach Japanese Weapons (Ryukyu Kobujutsu). We teach 8 weapons as part of a complete system. This includes Bo, Sai, Tonfa, Nunchaku and the wider traditional weapons syllabus of the Ryukyu Kobujutsu Association of Great Britain (RKAGB). Karate builds the body. Kobujutsu deepens the skills and understanding of Karate.

We run weekly Karate and Ryukyu Kobujutsu classes in West London — see the times and maps below to choose the class that suits you.

We also run courses, 1 to 1 teaching and provide on-line teaching if you are not close to Hounslow, West London.

Instructor

Classes are taught by Mehar Brar, 4th Dan Shotokan Karate and 3rd Dan Ryukyu Kobujutsu, with more than 45 years of martial arts experience. He has a background in teaching, school evakuation and leadership.
 

Lineage

Our Karate is based upon the syllabus designed by Hirokazu Kanazawa. Our teacher was Balwant Sahans.

Our Kobujutsu follows the direct teaching lineage Shinken Taira → Motokatsu Inoue → Julian Mead Shihan → Instructors and Students, We maintain a clear connection with the Japanese tradition and syllabus. Authentic Kobujutsu.
 

Who Is Welcome?

Beginners, returning students and experienced martial artists are welcome; Kobujutsu is particularly suitable for Karate practitioners who want to broaden and deepen their training.
 

Equipment & Fitness

You do not need to be especially fit or own specialist equipment before starting — come as you are and we will guide you from there.
 

First Lesson Free

Your first regular class is free, so you can experience the training before deciding whether to continue.
 

Fees

After your free first lesson, training is simply £10 per class, with no need for a large upfront commitment.
