Ryukyu Kobujutsu Association of Great Britain (RKAGB)
The RKAGB, through Sensei Julian Mead (7th Dan Yiu Shin Kai Karate and Ryukyu Kobujutsu), provides
training in the comprehensive system of Ryukyu Kobuutsu as complied by Motokatsu Inoue Hanshi
(1918 - 1993) at the request of his teacher Taira Shinken.
Training includes Kata, Kumite, Bunkai and Embu for all eight weapons of Ryukyu Kobujutsu - Bo, Sai,
Tonfa, Nunchaku, Kama, Tekko, Tinbe Rochin and Surijin. The depth of study includes historical aspects
of Kobujutsu and its overlap with Karate.

The RKAGB was formerly established in 1995 as the UK branch of the Honbu Dojo in Japan. Actually,
Sensei Mead had been teaching both Karate and Kobujutsu since 1986 after his return from training
directly under Motokatsu Inoue in Japan. There are practicing clubs and affiliated dojos in England,
Scotland and Ireland. Sensei Mead also oversees the development of Kobujutsu in other countries who
have requested his teaching and guidance.

Regular RKAGB open courses within the UK enable students to refine and diversify their learning.. These sometimes include teaching by instructors from the Honbu Dojo in Japan. There are also opportunities to train on open courses arranged, here in the UK and abroad, by other organisations who have invited Sensei Mead to teach and oversee their development.
