Useful links for wider learning and guidance

In this section you will find information to help you think more widely about your training.

The development of martial arts has been driven by great thinkers and philosophers who were not only physically skilled, but also recognised the importance of building the individual's character, attitude and emotional strength.

Part of this purpose is to stand up against injustice towards you or your community and yes, fighting as a last resort. We are talking, after all, about MARTIAL arts. Part of this is also to be an active and contributing member of the society that has contributed to your development.

The Ichigokai Karate syllabus can be downloaded here.

The syllabus contains an introduction to our approach to training. The Dojo Kun, Niju Kun and Dojo Etiquette introduce how to behave in the dojo and use Karate in our lives. This is followed by the techniques and kata expected for each grade. It also includes the performance expectations for each grade.

The increasing demands of the syllabus need us to consider our personal development. How do we practice, study, refine, deepen our skills and understanding? What does 'high quality' look and feel like?

Martial Arts is for everybody. Contact us to find out more.
